You Are our Heroes for Animals!
Thanks to your support, we have provided over $890,000 in grants to over 60 animal rescues and spay/neuter programs since opening in 2011. Wow! This is because of YOU!
It’s hard to believe, but in just 6 years…we are on a March to $1 Million in grants to animal charities! We are so close…and you can help us reach this milestone this year! When you shop, donate and volunteer at Second Life…you truly make a difference.
You’ve given a second chance at happiness for homeless dogs and cats.
Most of the abandoned pets you help save are pulled from high-kill shelters. Many are pit bulls and pit bull mixes, victims of over-breeding for profit and worse. During the Spring “kitten season,” there is an influx of kittens born and no room in these shelters. Your support lets rescues save these kittens – and adult cats too. These pets cannot rescue themselves – it’s up to all of us to be their bridge to a better tomorrow.
You’ve supplied lifesaving medical care.
Pets are often in need of medical care due to conditions they were rescued from. From vaccinations and routine surgery like spay or neuter, to emergency care and heartworm treatment, chances are they need extra care by the time they are rescued. These costs add up for rescues. Pets don’t have bank accounts. Your support of Second Life gets them back on their feet.
Spay & Neuter saves lives.
Reducing the number of unwanted pets from being born is a big part of our focus – there are simply not enough homes for all the animals being born. We know many families want to be responsible pet parents, but simply cannot afford the spay/neuter surgery…and we are happy to help! To date, we have provided more than $250,000 in spay/neuter grants to groups for spay & neuter grants of family pets and trap/neuter/return (TNR) of community cats.
You’ve given assistance to victims of domestic violence
Abusers are known to manipulate victims by threatening to hurt pets in the home if the victim leaves. Many who suffer from domestic violence will not leave their pets in danger., and most women’s shelters do not allow pets. We support an organization that provides a safe option for the person and their pets to escape.
Better tomorrows always start with knowledge of how to make them better, for both humans and pets. From pit bulls to pet overpopulation, from the human-animal bond to caring for a pet, our mission to educate starts with the basics and doesn’t end until there’s a better world for everyone.
You are our heroes whether you realize it or not! When you come to our stores you are not just thrifters or smart shoppers, you are part of a mission to create a better community. When you volunteer, you are giving time to save lives. When you clean out your closets or garage and donate goods, you are providing a path for the most vulnerable animals in our communities to live in safety and security.
