A MESSAGE TO OUR SECOND LIFE SUPPORTERS
REVISED MARCH 29, 2020
We want to start off by thanking all of you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. We, as an organization, want to be good stewards of our community. With the recent Shelter at Home policies enacted by cities and counties, our stores will be temporarily CLOSED until further notice.
No one know how long this will last, and we miss all of our donors, shoppers and Team Members…but we know these decisions are the best options for containting the spread. We especially miss our 4-legged supporters who knew how to brighten our days.
We will be monitoring the C.D.C. recommendations daily. As new information is released, we will update you with any possible changes to our current plan – including our donation process and our re-opening date. In these times of uncertainty, flexibility will be key for all of us.
We encourage you to visit the following websites for recommended guidelines about how to keep yourself and your community safe:
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
Shopping: We will be closed for shopping every day. There will be no access inside the stores except for our team members.
Donations: NO DONATION DROP-OFFS
We are not currently accepting donations, as we do not currently have any Team Members at our stores. Please do not leave them outside as they are likely to be damaged by the elements. We hope you can hold on to the donations to donate at a later date, as animal rescues will need our support more than ever. However, we understand if you cannot.
Spring Cleaning: If you are home, we encourage you to use this time to clean out your closets, attics and garages. The animals, including the rescues and shelters, need your help now more than ever.
Helping Animal Rescues & Shelters: If you are at home and have the opportunity to foster, please consider doing so now. Animal intake may increase, especially at county shelters and adoptions may be limited during this time – especially for shelters which have closed to the public. This will place a big strain on space limitations and the people caring for the animals. The CDC has indicated there is no risk of the COVID-19 virus spreading to humans from companion animals.
We are very worried about the animals in shelters and rescues. Foster homes are desperately needed to reduce the number of animals in shelters…and so rescues can continue to help pull from shelters.
If you’re working from home…work with a new buddy (but that’s not a requirement). If you can help foster…there are many organizations that are desperate for foster homes. Visit our Find a Rescue or Shelter page for groups needing fosters or our Why Foster page for more info.
We have been updating and implementing safety measures for our Team Members to follow, based on the C.D.C. guidelines and recommendations. Our stores are stocked with disinfectants and cleaners and we are increasing their use throughout the day on all surfaces. We are asking our Team Members to stay home if they feel sick or are concerned about coming into the stores.
Recommendations and guidelines are changing daily, so we will be posting updates on our Facebook page and website. You may email us at email@example.com or call our stores, but we are not sure what hours we will be available to answer your questions.
Thank you for your understanding and please be safe. We appreciate your continued support for homeless pets as we couldn’t make a difference without you. We look forward to seeing you in our stores when we reopen.
