Second Life has two upscale thrift stores in the Atlanta, GA area that were created with the mission of giving homeless pets a second chance at life.
We have provided over $250,000 in cash grants to more than 40 animal charities and spay/neuter programs! Your support really does make a difference.
Our 5,000+ square foot main store sells gently-used clothing, housewares, electronics, home décor, books, furniture and more! In turn, we support animal rescue charities and spay/neuter programs with much-needed cash grants. Our newest Furniture, Decor and More store opened in November 2013 and is located next door - and features our furniture, artwork, lamps, decor, vintage and collectibles. Park once and shop twice! Find a treat for yourself and give homeless pets a second chance at life!
Since opening in 2011, our goal has been to offer our customers a unique and fun thrift store shopping experience where every purchase benefits homeless dogs and cats. Our store is bright, organized and fun! All items are donated so every visit is a treasure hunt – you never know what kind of goodies you’ll find – and new items are added daily. At Second Life, you will find everything from antiques to vintage to brand new items. Get consignment store quality at thrift store prices
You’ll find our store is geared to the bargain shopper and animal lovers- with fun animal motifs painted on the back wall, rescue and shelter information posted throughout the store – and our Chief Smile Officer, Riley, roaming the store and looking for a good ear scratch. We host pet adoptions on a monthly basis so animal rescue groups can find homes for their adorable dogs and cats.
Donations of gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during open store hours. No appointment is necessary. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible.
Well behaved pets on a leash who are up-to-date on vaccinations and

Adopt Us! From Egypt to Atlanta
Looking for a Second Chance at Love!
Second Life is not a rescue organization. We prefer to help the many rescue organizations and animal charities with cash grants to help them meet their mission. However, one of the founders of Second Life is originally from Egypt and visits her family when she can.
She is a big supporter of the Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals (ESMA) shelter in Cairo, Egypt. This shelter is privately-run and has over 1,100+ dogs and cats in their care - with most of the adoptions and support coming from abroad. Their staff and volunteers give so much of their time, love and life to caring for these animals in a country that does not value animals or pets.
We help out by bringing dogs back to the US who have little chance of getting adopted in Egypt. We believe rescue knows no boundaries and we will help an animal in need - no matter where it was born. Meet our other special needs dogs here, including 2-legged Mazi, 3 1/2 legged Angel and Gordy who were given a second chance!
Ramses: These two dogs came from Egypt in March 2014 and are still looking for their second chance at love.
Ramses is a 4-year old beauty. He was originally rescued from the desert near Cairo by an American man who, when he left Egypt, decided it wasn't worth paying to bring him along because he was "just a rescue." He wasn't doing well at the shelter so their founder asked us to bring him back and give him a chance at love.
He finally made it to the US...where he deserves a family who looks at him as a member of their family. When we met him at the shelter, he was in one of their kennels and wouldn't come out because he was depressed. Now look at him.
Ramses is just a happy dog who loves to play with all dogs. He would do great in home with another dog that loves to play or an active person who loves to run.
If you or someone you know is looking for a dog with a unique story and great personality, Ramses may be for you!
Agram (nicknamed Riley Jr.)
Agram is a very sweet, gentle and grateful dog. All he wants his love and will put his paw to you to try and get your attention. We call him Riley Jr. as his personality and mannerisms are so similar to our Chief Smile Officer, Riley!
Agram was adopted and loved by his new dad...but we found out that he can't live with cats (indoor or outdoor cats). So, he came back to us last week.
While in Egypt, he was languishing at the shelter since he had lived in a home and knew what he was missing. He was used to soft beds and car rides and walks. And now he lived outdoors with hundreds of other dogs. He stopped eating much and lost a lot of weight.
We know there is a home out there looking for a mellow guy who just wants a soft place to cuddle and to share his love with a family. He is about 4 years old. Agram is available for adoption through Royal Potcake Rescue.
Thank you to ESMA for giving him love and caring for him. They do amazing work for their 1,100+ dogs and cats in a country that doesn't value animals and given their limited resources.
And thank you to Royal Potcake Rescue who took them into their rescue and are helping us find their forever homes.
Thanks to Our Supporters...
Over $250,000 in Grants Provided to Animal Charities
A new focus starting in 2013 was sponsoring spay/neuter surgeries for
low-income families so we can keep unwanted pets from ending up in shelters.
To date, we have provided more than $80,000 to organizations specifically for spay/neuter grants. At an average of $75-85 per procedure, this means you have helped between 940 - 1,070 dogs and cats make the "no mommy" and "no daddy" pledge.
We couldn't do it without our supporters - our customers, our volunteers and our donors. Every person plays such an important role in our success in being able to help animal rescue organizations give homeless pets a second chance at life.
When you shop at our store, not only do you find unique bargains, but you are giving homeless pets a chance to find love.
More than 40 animal charities have benefited from Second Life and we hope to be able to continue to help others as we grow.
