Second Life has two upscale thrift stores in the Atlanta, GA area that were created with the mission of giving homeless pets a second chance at life.
We have provided over $350,000 in cash grants to more than 40 animal charities and spay/neuter programs! Your support really does make a difference.
Our 5,000+ square foot main store sells gently-used clothing, housewares, electronics, home décor, books, furniture and more! In turn, we support animal rescue charities and spay/neuter programs with much-needed cash grants. Our newest Furniture, Decor and More store opened in November 2013 and is located next door - and features our furniture, artwork, lamps, decor, vintage and collectibles. Park once and shop twice! Find a treat for yourself and give homeless pets a second chance at life!
Since opening in 2011, our goal has been to offer our customers a unique and fun thrift store shopping experience where every purchase benefits homeless dogs and cats. Our store is bright, organized and fun! All items are donated so every visit is a treasure hunt – you never know what kind of goodies you’ll find – and new items are added daily. At Second Life, you will find everything from antiques to vintage to brand new items. Get consignment store quality at thrift store prices
You’ll find our store is geared to the bargain shopper and animal lovers- with fun animal motifs painted on the back wall, rescue and shelter information posted throughout the store – and our Chief Smile Officer, Riley, roaming the store and looking for a good ear scratch. We host pet adoptions on a monthly basis so animal rescue groups can find homes for their adorable dogs and cats.
Donations of gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during open store hours. No appointment is necessary. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible.
Well behaved pets on a leash who are up-to-date on vaccinations and
are preferably, spayed or neutered, are welcome. Their humans must be on a leash.
Open Tuesdays Starting January 6, 2015!
Happy 4th Anniversary to Second Life!
It is hard to believe that we are celebrating the 4th Anniversary of opening our first store this Thursday! On Saturday, January 8th, 2011 we opened our doors to certainty...but also optimism that we could fulfill our mission of giving homeless pets a second chance at life.
When we first opened, the store was very sparse. We only had 6 weeks to spread the word, collect donations from the public and get the store ready to open. It still amazes us that we were able to pull this off during the holidays. Thank you to everyone who believe in us before we even opened and donated your unwanted items to make our store a reality.
Our sweet old Dalmatian, Lucky, likely kept us in business the first year. He was about 16 years old when we opened and he would sleep on his bed by the window behind our counter. Customers would come in to say hi to him and rub his spotted velvety ears...and shop a while here. We are so thankful our inspiration was able to be with us our first year. He is missed every day but his legend lives on.
Today, thanks to our wonderful donors, customers and volunteers...we have 2 stores full of quality donations. And we have a new Chief Smile Officer, Riley, roaming the store, looking for ear scratches.
To date, through 3rd Quarter 2014 sales, we have provided over $350,000 in grants to animal rescue organizations and spay/neuter programs that offer free or reduced surgeries to pets in low-income families.
We hope 2015 will continue to see us grow and more animal lovers will learn how easy it is to help animals simply by shopping for bargains, donating their gently-used items and volunteering their time.
Volunteers are the heart of our organization - they truly are our backbone. The thousands of hours they volunteer each year allow us to give more cash grants and to make our mission a reality. Without them, we wouldn't be successful or where we are today. The stores look like they do because of them! Please take a moment to thank all our volunteers - and our employees too - for all they do to make this a reality.

Our Egyptian foster, Gordy, is back with us after being in his "forever" home for 9 months. His mom has decided she can no longer give him the attention he needs as she figures out changes in her life. We feel so sad for him as he has already had so much abandonment in his life.
We are not sure what the next steps are - it took us 16 months to place him as he is an anxious boy. He needs a home where someone is home a lot - which is not ours - and can be patient with him in a new environment. He is such a big teddy bear with a lot of character. Look at his smile!
We hope that can figure out our next steps and that Ramses' adoption works out as we don't think they will get along with each other. One day at a time is all we can do. Perhaps his forever home really is out there somewhere.
